Having just returned from a short stay in the stunning Swiss town of Lauterbrunnen, I’m a bit of a drooly, overwhelmed mess. Edinburgh: An Old Town with a New Beginning

I’ve been living in Edinburgh for two weeks now, after spending most of the last year living in the south of Spain. It’s not a completely unfamiliar place for me to move to, I used to live here in 2013 and 2014. This time though, I’ve moved under very different circumstances, returning to join a fiancé that I definitely didn’t have the last time I was here. Friends have left. Groups have changed. I’m living in an area I barely spent any time in before, and it’s familiar and completely different at the same time. How to use Google Maps Without Internet

Google Maps is my favourite navigation app, but I rarely have an Internet connection when roaming on a trip, so how can I use Google Maps then? It’s a good idea to plan ahead for your journey by downloading maps while you are still on Wi-Fi. Once you have downloaded a region, you can get directions or view points of interest in that area even there is no Internet connection. The downside is that only driving routes are available, there are no walking or cycling directions. You also can’t modify routes like avoiding tolls or ferries. How to save maps to use offline 1. On your phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app. Make sure you’re signed into your Google account. 2. Search for a place, like Paris. 3. At the bottom, touch the bar that has the name of the place you searched. 4. Select Download To get around using your downloaded area, use the Google Maps app just like you normally would.
