Studio A Tiny Peek Behind Burbanks Scenes Making the Big Screen That Much Smaller A Peek Behind Burbanks Scenes D ubbed the “media capital of the world,” Burbank is home to some of the biggest companies in entertainment. Over the years Warner Bros, NBC, and Disney (among others) have produced hit TV shows and movies from this little city just north of Hollywood. Thankfully Burbank is also home to the Coast Anabelle hotel – the second stop of my #GreatCoastRoadTrip. Getting Behind Burbanks Scenes Was Easier than we Thought. The Coast Annabel hotel is conveniently located minutes away from world-famous studios making it the perfect jumping off point for heading behind Burbanks scenes. If the 5 minute drive is too much for you, head next door to the Coast Anabelle’s historic sister property, the Safari Inn, for a tast...

Puget Sound Whale Watching Adventures in Washington

Image
The Salish Sea is an intricate network of coastal waterways in the Pacific Northwest that includes the Olympic Peninsula of Washington and Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. The area is famous for attracting a huge variety of sea mammals, including transient and resident orcas, humpbacks, gray whales, minke whales, porpoises, sea lions, and seals. Orca watching in the Salish Sea has been on my bucket list for my whole life, and since I recently visited Port Townsend for my son’s graduation, I jumped at the chance to embark on a Puget Sound whale watching tour with Puget Sound Express. They’ve been offering wildlife excursions in the Salish Sea for more than 40 years! [toc] Whales in the Puget Sound and the Salish Sea This is Mike (J26), a Southern Resident Orca that we saw on our trip. Review: “The Sex Lives of Cannibals” – A Funny Romp

Imagine this: A small tropical island in the South Pacific where the sun always shines, the lagoon is blue, the waves are perfect for surfing, and the locals are friendly. Sounds like paradise, right? But now imagine that the sun is relentless, the lack of rain leads to water shortages, the lagoon is littered with garbage, those perfect waves can easily dash you upon sharp rocks, and the friendly locals defecate everywhere. In public. Still sound like a paradise? These are the two sides of the coin J. Maarten Troost faced when he and his fiancée arrived on the island of Tarawa — a small atoll that's part of the nation of Kiribati (or the Gilbert Islands to most of us). Troost writes about the two years the couple spent “adrift in the equatorial Pacific” in a humorous travel novel called “ The Sex Lives of Cannibals .” You’ve probably heard of it; it’s kind of a big deal. And, honestly, I think the attention is well-deserved, even if the title is slightly misleading. “The Sex...

Hotel Review – Four Points by Sheraton Agra

Image
Agra, being home to the Taj Mahal, sees more than its fair share of tourists. There are many hotels near this grand monument to love and it can be confusing knowing which are the better ones. Particularly which are the better hotels near the Taj Mahal. As we discovered, Agra is best enjoyed over at least 2 days as there is more to this ancient capital than just visiting the Taj Mahal.

Review – Porepunkah Bridge Caravan Park, Porepunkah, Victoria

Image
For the second time in 12 weeks, we decided to park our camper trailer at Porepunkah, approximately 6kms from Bright in the Victorian high country. Bright is one of my favourite towns in Victoria as its such a pretty place, this time of year though its very busy. Porepunkah is my favourite place to go camping near Bright, just far enough away from the craziness but easy to still get in to town.
